The concept of corporate governance has been attracting international public attention for quite some time, more especially after the financial crisis of 2008. It has been finding wide acceptance for its relevance and importance to industry and economies.

The course examines corporate governance in all its formats. It examines case studies that demonstrate how regulation was circumvented and high risk structures and policies adopted.

Presented by Dr. Marshall Potts, a Member of the Institute of Business Ethics and Global Ethics Net Geneva with a background in Personal and Business Psychology. He has significant global experience in delivering International Global Corporate Governance in many sectors of business including Soverign Wealth Funds, Banks and Investemnt Organizations.

International Business Ethics – 4th and 5th April 2019

It is inevitable that the milestones in the 2007 – 2008 economic meltdown (including the fifth anniversary September 15, 2013 of Lehman Brothers’ bankruptcy filing) trigger questions about what has been learned to avert future crises.

The banks were largely blamed for the collapse of the world’s financial sector through their questionable business ethics and behaviour.

This course examines the concept of business ethics, the dilemmas facing business owners on a daily basis and the legislation now in force in an attempt to control corruption.

Advanced Tender Writing Techniques 2 Days –15th – 16th August 2019

The public procurement market is worth $13 trillion dollars across a variety of countries and bid sizes ranging from as little as $75,000 which makes it an ideal expansion strategy for smaller companies. But how easy is it to win these contracts?

Quite difficult!

There are two factors: The actual bid writing is, in concept, actually very straightforward. Whether writing for the public sector or a commercial business opportunity, the process starts from the same point.

The challenge is that whilst it is conceptually very simple, bid and tender writing is a craft or skill, similar to playing sport. It takes practice to become proficient and you quickly lose your ability if you do not practice it regularly.

Added into the mix is that public sector tendering is one of the most competitive activities with low conversion rates of success to submission if the tender/bid writers do not have the right skills. It is also very time consuming and therefore unproductive if conversion rates are low.

2016 was a bad year for fraud. A very bad year. The top 10 fraud types alone accounted for $181 Billion in annual losses.  And the numbers will keep increasing across most fraud types for 2017. Bank fraud is the use of potentially illegal means to obtain money, assets or other property owned or held by a financial institution, or to obtain money from depositors by fraudulently posing as a bank or other financial institution. In many instances, bank fraud is a criminal offence. This course explores the different aspects of potential financial institutional fraud and the due diligence that can be applied to prevent fraud.
